Editing session 6

During today’s lesson we didn’t get as much work completed as we intended, this was due to the fact that the IMac had been updated and had put our work into another folder, which we struggled to find. Fortunately we found the work, when the software had updated it had put all the work into another folder in order to save it.

Today I also changed some of our shots from
normal to a distortion effect, this was to add a
more sinister effect, however it didn't look correct.

The original image.
Here is the image after I had
expanded the image to look
landscape.

Today due to our set back in the lesson we decided to concentrate mainly upon our montage in the trailer sequence. I have previously analysed the ‘You’re Next’ trailer and I suggested to make group to use it as inspiration for our trailer montage. So I showed them the trailer and they agreed that the montage in this film was extremely effective and would be good to use as inspiration for our final piece. I also suggested that our montage shots were too long and the rest of my group agreed to be concentrated on cutting these shots down to between 0.5-1 seconds. The fact that we had increase our montage made it more sinister and a lot more effective.

Here above is the inspiration I suggested to my group that we should use, and they both agreed as they liked the montage and thought it was very effective, so we are going to use it as inspiration. However without the non-diegetic soundtrack I don't believe it would be as effective as it is, because I have watched it with and without sound the montage, and it is definitely more sinister with the non-diegetic soundtrack, so I think when we consider our diegetic or non-diegetic sound it needs to be considered very carefully.
