Focus group questions

As part of our research and planning we have decided to have a focus group with our target audience, to get their feedback to help us develop our ideas, so that we can ensure that it will appeal to them. So today me and my group set aside some time during our lesson to decide on some non leading questions to include in our focus group that we will be asking our target audience. We are going to ask the permission of between ten and fifty individuals to be included in our focus group to give us feedback on what they would expect to see in a horror film. The group with be given a brief overview of our narrative and asked if they have any ideas for where we may need improvement.

Focus group questions

  • Define what you think a psychological horror is.
  • What do you expect to see in a psychological horror?
  • How do you expect a female to be represented within this genre?
  • How do you expect a male to be represented within this genre?
  • What is your opinion on the narrative idea?
  • Who do you expect to be the last one standing?
  • What do you expect the antagonist to look like?
  • Would you feel comfortable with stereotypes being challenged? For example a female antagonist.
  • Does "Oppression" seen a good fit for the name of our narrative?
  • What does the work "Oppression" mean to you? What mood does it convey?
  • What makes an engaging horror trailer?
  • What would draw in you interest in a horror?
  • Do you have any alternate ideas for a name of our horror?
  • Do you think our trailer may give too much away
  • Do you think our trailer would leave you asking questions and why?
