'You're next' trailer analysis

Here is something I would like to consider for our trailer, the montage of footage all together, as they will make the audience become more afraid. At the end when the person in the mask jumps out is called a 'sting'. A 'sting' is a part of the movie that is very jumpy and comes out of no-where like the end of this footage, and this again is something I would like to consider putting in our trailer.

For the beginning of the sequence we are shown an establishing shot, this shot shows us the setting of the film, which is isolated and secluded. These conform to the conventions of a horror film, which hints to the audience what they are going to watch. Whilst we see this shot we also hear non-diegetic of a soundtrack in the background. The soundtrack sounds innocent, mirror the happiness represented within the shot.
Here we are shown text about it being 'The perfect weekend', this adds enigma because we don't know whether this is true or not. However the non-diegetic soundtrack still sounds innocent so the text will be interpreted as innocent.

In a wide shot we are then shown the isolated house, this conforms to conventions of a horror as they usually have isolated setting with one single house in it. However again we still have non-diegetic of the soundtrack suggesting that everything is all okay, but we also have diegetic sound of one of the characters talking. This is also a high angle shot of which suggests that the scene is inferior and foreshadows that something bad is going to occur.

Here is a wide shot of the character looking happy whilst we still have  non-diegetic sound of the soundtrack in the background, which is showing that everything is still peaceful. We also have diegetic sound of the characters talking about how they are going to have a good time.
Here we have a wide shot of the location and its dark covered with shadows, which suggests something more sinister is about to occur. This foreshadows that something bad is going to happen, this is suggested by the non-diegetic soundtrack as it turns more sinister.

Here is the first visual representation of the disruption when based on the todorov theory. This is a point of view shot, but what makes it sinister is the fact we can see the reflection of a masked figure watching the characters. This adds enigma because the audience don't know what or why they are watching them, this makes you want to watch it more. We also here non-diegetic sound which makes you jump which suggests that this is something bad.
This is the moment of realisation that the characters realise they are being attacked as the in this close up shot we witness the glass being smashed. Diegetic sound of the window being smashed is represented and this is the realisation of the Todorvo theory.
Here we have a point of view shot from the antagonists prospective which makes it more sinister as the audience are being associated or connected with the protagonist. For these particular shots they used jump shots which created a more threatening atmosphere.

Here we have a close up shot of 'You're next' this is a threatening tone which foreshadows that someone is going to come after the protagonists. The fact that the text is in red suggests danger, it is the colour of fire and blood, which is associated with rage. This foreshadows death and destruction.

Here in this close up shot is representing the disruption of the Todorov's theory, there is also a wider range of phallic symbols used throughout, which conforms to the conventions of a horror film. We have diegetic sound from music that was previously shown being put on.
Here we have a mid-shot of one of the antagonists, this shot is also a low angle shot which makes the subject look more sinister and very threatening. This adds enigma because we are unaware as to who they are and what they are doing there. The diegetic soundtrack is also continued throughout these scenes.
Here is a mid-shot of the antagonist holding a phallic symbol, this makes the scene look more sinister. The weapon also conforms to the conventions of a horror, and the mask also conforms to the conventions of a horror, for example in the horror film Halloween the antagonist hides his identity. This is done to keep the audience more interested and it will encourage them to watch it as they will be curious as to who is under the mask.
Here the final girl theory is represented, as she is the only surviving person within the film. She is also covered in blood which adds a sinister feel to the trailer, the colour red connotes danger and death, and this is foreshadowing death and violence.
Here is one of the last shots used within the trailer and this is the title name'You're Next' this is to tell the audience the name. There is also sigs of broken glass which could suggest shattered lives and the fact there is blood is representing death and danger.
